kernel panic after backup

Postby leshow » Tue Jan 02, 2018 11:10 pm

I unplugged my pi3, took out my microsd and plugged it into my computer, I then proceded to backup with:

sudo dd if=/dev/sdd bs=1M | pv | sudo dd of=/home/username/image

Everything appeared to go fine, I have a 32gb file (same size as my sd card). But when I take this same card and plug it back into the pi, it boots up and stops at:

Kernel panic-not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(179,2)

I don't seem to have any way to fix this. Does anyone know what I can do?
