Can someone explain what the difference between linux-rpi and linux-rpi-legacy is for ARMv7?

On my Pi 2, I switched from linux-rpi-legacy to linux-rpi without any issues. If linux-rpi is the right choice also for Pi 2 then I'm asking me why there is an ARMv7 build of linux-rpi-legacy at all? Because RPI 1, Zero, Zero W (as mentioned in the package description) are all ARMv6 architectures.

In the end (at least for me as a Pi 2 user) the rebrand was more confusing than helpful.

Isn't the linux-rpi kernel a 32bit one?

this is depending on your installation and the setting in /etc/pacman.conf, e.g.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
...
Architecture = aarch64
...
')

Search on https://archlinuxarm.org/packages for "linux-rpi" and you see it comes in two different flavour, armv7h or aarch64.

Oops! I said yes to changing my Pi3+ to rpi-legacy. How do I get to linux-rpi arm7h? Is it just a case of pacman -S linux-rpi linux-rpi-headers

We dropped the legacy package as it is no longer needed. For any supported RPi, use linux-rpi.
