wifi config without "iw", "nmcli" etc

Postby aleet » Thu Jan 04, 2024 4:34 pm

HI, I successfully booted arch on an Android TV Box X96Q (H313 armv8)
Problem: I cannot config WIFI without tools

- "ip link" shows lo and wlan0 (DOWN and with valid MAC addr)
- "find / -name" cannot find nmcli, iw, iwconfig, lsusb
- Built in Eth port not show up, I assume driver not in distro

I assume if I can configure wlan0, then I can install everything. Can someone show me wiki or how to get networking?
I will look up USB Tethering too

Two things. First, I would build your own kernel based on this PR and see if wlan0 magically shows up. The current linux-aarch64 is pretty old/needs to be refreshed:make_clickable_callback(MAGIC_URL_FULL, ' ', 'https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs/pull/2014', '', ' class="postlink"')

Second, if that doesn't give you a wlan0, you will need to figure out what chipset the hardware has and the build a driver for it assuming it is supported.

OP says they show wlan0 with IP link already. This is where I'm at also. But wondering what the wireless toolset is supposed to be. My ISO doesn't include iwd as is used with x64 Arch. Is there a list of packages included with the ALARM ISO somewhere? [edit: I guess that is an individual packager question, will look over at PineBookPro forums...]
