[Solved] Custom stripped-down root file system

Postby michaelforstner » Thu Oct 31, 2013 7:57 am

Hi,

I would like to ask how the root file system is created (I am currently targeting a PandaBoard) since the current ArchLinuxARM-omap-smp-latest.tar.gz is about 400 MiB of size (extracted).

IMHO there are already much packages pre-installed which I would not need (like xfsprogs, reiserfsprogs, etc.)

So is there a way to build my own root file system?

Many thanks in advance,
Michael

I don't own a panda, but..
Possibly part of card is not file system, ie could be uBoot
Special files needed, ie boot.scr or env.txt
Now look at archlinux wiki on pacstrap and arch-chroot

1) Use our tarball
2) pacman -S devtools-alarm arch-install-scripts
3) pacstrap && arch-chroot
