Pogoplug: Accidently deleted sysvinit

Postby versuz1 » Sun Nov 10, 2013 12:32 pm

Hi Community,

first of all i am more or less a complete noob, however i got arch installed on my pogoplug and everything working until i followed the following procedure and removed sysvinit: :oops:

# pacman -S systemd-sysvcompat
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
:: systemd-sysvcompat and sysvinit are in conflict. Remove sysvinit? [y/N] y

After a reboot my pogoplug neither reboots from usb stick nor from the drive itself.
I cannot ssh into it and can't see the device in my router overview of connected devices.
I also do not have the opportunity to flash the device via serial cable.
The green led is flashing...

I have the usb stick and was thinking if the problem could be solved by "installing" sysvinit again on the usb stick however i have not any knowledge how to do it or any other way to rescue my pogoplug.

Can anybody please help!

Yeah... bad idea. See the EOL post & related community-supported threads.

You can mount the partition and extract that older package over the top with tar. Then once booted, re-install it with force so that pacman knows of it's files.

Oh my god :D
I did it thanks to your help WarheadsSE and the plug is up and running (took me half a day ;) ), however i struggle with this :$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WarheadsSE', 'i')t with force so that pacman knows of it's files.

What should i exactly do?

until now i have extracted the package over the mounted usb stick.
i then followed the instruction on http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv6 ... asend-life
starting at number 10.
i keep struggling at 14.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'p')acman -Sy udev-automount
-->error: target not found: udev-automount"

i was afraid to start "pacman -Syu" in order to not break my plug again...

thanks for your time
