Configuration Management systems

Postby technosf » Sat Nov 23, 2013 6:40 pm

Hi y'all

With a few *nix systems laying around, and having re-imaged a few disks recently, I'd been thinking that it would be nice to have a configuration agent, i.e. Chef or Puppet, do the work. There are others out there - CFEngine, Ansible, Salt etc. but I'm not familiar with them.

I'm interested to hear what experiences others have configuring their ARM devices using CM engines, and what advice there is on offer. Obviously, the goal it to find one to manage my plugs.

And I'll throw this out there - I would be nice to have 'recipe's on ArchLinuxARM to securely and correctly configure basic system facets, h/w crypto, SSH for example.

Cheers!

SALT works perfectly on ARM, I made sure of that. After meeting it's creator at SELF 2012, he requested aid in resolving a key issue in the mq library, and once that was solved that afternoon, I've heard of no further issues.
