How to build Arch Linux ARM for Mygica ATV1200?

Postby MikeATV1200 » Sat Jan 18, 2014 2:59 pm

Hello,
I'd like to install Arch Linux into Mygica ATV1200. (brief hardware specification below)
Would you please advice on where to start?
As I understand I need to compile it by myself, but I'm not sure how to do that and can't find any guide on this.

Chipset Family ARM Cortex A9
Chipset Model Amlogic 8726-MX
Cores 2
Chipset Mhz 1200
GPU Mali400(x2)
RAM (MB) 1024

Kernel & Uboot are yours to make, you will need to obtain the sources for those.

The userland should work out of the box with the omap rootfs tarball.

Thank you for the quick response!
I'm new to Linux world. So it's a bit unclear to me still.

Which image should I use to boot my device to be able to compile kernel?
Where can I obtain needed sources?
How to "plug in" userland from ArchLinuxARM-omap-smp-latest.tar.gz into the kernel I'll have built?

Where could I read more on how to do this?
Sorry if it was already asked, I can't find this information.

@WarheadsSE

Is there is a minimum Linux kernel version limit for Systemd ?
The latest Amlogic 8726-M6/MX kernel is 3.0.50.

You might want to look at croniccorey's Github repositories.
https://github.com/croniccorey
https://github.com/CoreTech-Development
Start with the messon6 defconfigs and especially the the meson6_g18_mx2_defconfig at https://github.com/CoreTech-Development ... rm/configs

Latest source are on
https://github.com/j1nx/Openlinux.Amlogic

You can find sources also at
http://openlinux.amlogic.com:8000/download/ARM/kernel/

I'm not sure about this but I think vDorst pushed few months ago an ATV1200 defconfig in one of his repositories
https://github.com/vDorst?tab=repositories

p.s.
Some little bird told me that Amlogic might be pushing kernel 3.10+ for MX/M6 to the wild, no info about the timing.
