Hi, I am quite new to Linux and decided to be adventurous and try Archlinux Arm on the Raspberry PI. Everything was fine until I installed the XFCE desktop and forgot my user name and password! I still have my root password. However, I cannot get in to root as on boot it goes straight away to the desktop and asks for my user name and password. If I put my SD card in to a windows computer is there something I can edit to give myself a new user name and password?

No, but when faced with GUI login, do Ctrl/Alt/F2 and login as root
ls /home/ should give a clue to username

Thanks a lot. I can now log in as root.
I think the problem with logging in to the desktop may be because it has not installed properly, as I am pretty sure I now have the correct user name and password and still cannot log on. I will post a separate topic about this.
