A suggestion on the right path please

Postby rjalex » Tue Dec 02, 2014 8:10 am

Dear friends,
I have limited experience with Archlinux on a RPi B+ to drive a USB DAC+Ampli + Wifi and have loved it.

I am now thinking of doing another install with the following purpose: an headless NFS server and Deluge torrent client with web interface because I have such functions on a different Raspberry running XBMC with the RaspBMC distribution but the Deluge torrent web interface and daemon quit often without explanation and I do not want to burden this box whose purpose is reproducing hi def video streams withour hiccuping.

I'd like to know if there is some guide on how to create the "lightest" Archlinux install without any desktop environment or other services which are not NTP, NFS, SSH, Deluge and their prerequisites.

Any suggestions / hints /pointers to documentation very welcome.

Thanks in advance.

PS Cannot find what is the minimal size of the SD to install Archlinux for Raspberry.

Archlinux comes about as stripped down as it can go. If you are talking about Archlinuxarm, its been installed on less than 2GB ( though I would probably use at least 5GB so there is room for adding things later. On my NSA 325 I'm using 8GB on the rootfs, that includes a Desktop and Plexmediaserver.
On my pogoplug v3 I'm using a little over 3GB.

Now I have a couple of raspberry pi ( 3+ and 4)
