how to remove systemd

Postby engivr » Fri Oct 09, 2015 7:49 am

Good morning all

I am developing an embedded solution that should be safe from creeping features and bugs, basically should be stable.
Systemd is clearly messing the system and adding unwanted complexity and dependencies

Is there a way of removing systemd and have the stable getty login and normal simple startup code ?

Thanks, Damiano

Arch is not really the distro for you if you want static, unmoving parts.

I think that command is helpful for you after installing SysV init packages
# apt-get remove --purge --auto-remove systemd

Wrong.
This is archlinux arm, NOT debian (or derivatives). We use pacman.
There is no alternative to systemd on archlinux arm. That is unless you go and compile things and write scripts yourself - but then it won't be archlinux.
