I'd like to hook up my GoFlex to my SansDigital TR4UTPPN external drive array to create a nice little NAS box with up to 16TB storage. The TR4U has hardware RAID and JBOD modes. Right now, I have the unit running off the eSATA port of my old Dell Latitude E6500 (Linux Mint 15) in JBOd mode, using LVM to make the installed 4 dissimilar drives into one large LVM logical volume. I didn't think the Dell 6500's eSATA port would detect the 4 individual drives of the TR4U, but it does.
While I'd love it if the GoFlex with archlinux installed would support ethernet jumboframes, I'm not too concerned at this point. I just want to know if the GoFlex Home can even talk via SATA using a SATA-eSATA cable - the drives naturally be powered by the array's power supply.
I've never personally worked with RAID systems. Will I be able to partition a RAID volume so I can install archlinux on it rather than the GoFlex NAND flash? I'm hoping someone here has done something similar.
