Cant boot if 2nd hard drive is installed Pogo E02

Postby chris5h » Sat Apr 26, 2014 3:32 am

So I have a 2TB external and a 4GB flash drive with Arch installed. If I reboot it with the external installed it will not completely boot up. This is the netcal log I pull:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '

GNU ld (Sourcery G++ Lite 2009q3-67) 2.19.51.20090709
Hit any key to stop autoboot: 10 ^C

')

And it just hangs there indefinitely. I tried doing this fix: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=5034
And this fix just doesnt seem to apply anymore: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4576&start=10

I had this configured before with a flash drive and this HDD so I know it works, I just dont know what is different this time.

Thanks everyone.
And it did not work

I fixed this by formatting the drive NTFS and installing NTFS-3G

What fs was it before? You do know ntfs-eg will be slow, right? Though theres is a thread in the forum that describes how to speed it up

ext3. It seems to be pretty fast. When transferring files via Samba. I get 19-20mb/s when transferring a couple of GB size ISO . I might be slower than what it was before, but if so I havent noticed.

I did find the thread you mentioned:
viewtopic.php?f=53&t=5001&p=29498&hilit=ntfs+speed#p29498

Which simply links to a blog post:
http://obihoernchen.net/wordpress/877/s ... rch-linux/

And I followed the suggestion, and it did seem to net me about a 2-5% transfer speed increase, so thanks for the recommendation. Not a huge boost, but every little bit helps.
