You need to edit fstab so that it mounts rootfs rw. Look in the same section where you downloaded uinitrd, it goes over this. I would tell you here, but im using my phone to write this. Of course use ROOTFS for label.

You can do this over seral: "mount -o remount,rw /"
And rhen edit fstab with nano/vi

Wow, I can't thank you enough. Everything is up and running again. If you don't mind me asking, how did you know the label was wrong on the thumb drive?

I'll help moonman answer this one, its in your fw_printenv output:

This isn't default, did you fail to mention you were messing with the uboot config? :)

Thanks for the answer. How you guys can catch the one line that is wrong is amazing. Until it was messed up I had never even logged into it so trying to fix it was a steep learning curve. I house it for someone else so I really had no idea what he had to it.
