NSA325 install question?

Postby kbaggen » Thu Mar 31, 2016 4:46 pm

Hi there,
gonna get one of these badboys cheap, and hence upgrade from Seagate Go Flex :-)

Bare I read under install guidelines:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')This process will format the bare, unparitioned HDD in the left slot (sda, ide 0:1) with an ext2 boot partition, ext3 rootfs partition, and set the for the device to boot from it.

So how do I do ensure the HD I gonna use is "bare" and "unparitioned" ?!?
(and if done in Win10 it would make my life easier :-)

Hi WarheadSE,
I have read the install guidelines a few times and to me it do not say anything regarding how to revent back to stock (or if it at all is possible).
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')his process will format the bare, unparitioned HDD in the left slot (sda, ide 0:1) with an ext2 boot partition, ext3 rootfs partition, and set the for the device to boot from it.

Download installer tar appropriate for your device from here
Extract to FAT partitioned USB key
Download the kirkwood rootfs rename to 'rootfs.tgz'
Copy to the USB key
Place HDD in left slot, USB key into a rear USB port, power on the device.
Wait for LEDs to settle. This process may take some time while your disk is formatted and the file system extracted.
Login as the default user alarm with the password alarm.
The default root password is root.

There seem to be some mix-match in the wording marked by red........and not sure to understand that part!

REgarding, rewenting back to stock......where should I look and read to understand how to do this is possible at all?!?

Give som info, but not in regards of a fine complet arch install etc.?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'b')y WarheadsSE » Mon Jun 23, 2014 7:16 pm

Yes, ssh to the device, and use fw_setenv to set bootcmd to "run to_stock"

The USB drive trick won't run on Arch

SO I guess it possible if you make a correct install.....else you need serial cable, correct?

And thansk for responding to me!

Klaus

Ps.........it would be nice if there was a date on the install styff, so we can see if those guidelines are newer that for instance what we find in forum!

search NSA325 revert. there is a whole thread there. Or search under my posts, or just search under NSA325. Lots of good info there.
