Creating a rescue USB boot for GoFlexHome

Postby AndrewWArchLinux » Sat Jul 23, 2016 5:53 am

My disk failed in my GFH and i need to create a rescue USB to allow me to prep the new disk, but i cant find the instructions anywhere. The main archlinx site talks about iso for its images, but nothing for arm. How do i create a bootable usb device to allow be to boot my GFH from USB for rebuild

Thanks
Andrew

No instructions any where but i worked it out

on a linux box
create an ext3 partition on a usb stick (I found large partitions don't work I used 8GB)

download the latest kirkwood tar

wget http://os.archlinuxarm.org/os/ArchLinux ... est.tar.gz

mount the usb stick and extract the tar

tar -xvzf boot.tar.gz

umount the usb stick , job done
