Can't login as root on Pogoplug E-02

Just followed instructions here https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv … 2-pinkgray
Installed ArchLinux.
However, I can not login as root user but only as "alarm" user.
I saw the announcement about "Initial user accounts and OpenSSH 7.0"
Can anyone tell me how to login as the root user?
I tried to edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config but can't edit the file as "alarm" user.

Sudo is better - is alarm in the sudoers group by default?

sudo is no installed by default.

It seems logon alarm/alarm is the default.
How to install sudo then?

That worked.
Then I tried to edit nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config
which of the following I should use to get root access?
"PermitRootLogin yes"
or
"PermitRootLogin without-password"

I am trying to install SAMBA to use this as a NAS.

If you are going to enable root account ssh access I strongly suggest 'without-password' so that it will only accept key based. However, security practices state that you're better of just accessing via alarm or another created user, then using su or sudo.
