Postby gregbert » Sat Sep 17, 2016 9:49 am

After recent update to version 4.5.0, samba fails to load.
uname -a:
Linux Pogoplug2.server.com 4.4.20-1-ARCH #1 PREEMPT Wed Sep 7 14:32:26 MDT 2016 armv5tel GNU/Linux

any ideas?

Re: Samba failing to load after recent update

I had the same problem. Noted:

warning: tevent: local (0.9.30-1) is newer than extra (0.9.29-2)

So I downgraded tevent to the previous version in cache:

pacman -U tevent-0.9.29-1-arm.pkg.tar.xz

And it's working again. I then upgraded tevent to tevent-0.9.29-2 with pacman -Su

Perhaps there's a version control issue with the mirrors?

Upstream found a problem and downgraded the version.
just run "pacman -Syyuu" to allow downgrade from repo

used pacman -Su tevent (needed to avoid downgrading webmin, which hasn't been upgraded in the repository for some time; not sure why)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'w')arning: downgrading package tevent (0.9.30-1 => 0.9.29-2)

and bingo - it works.

thank you both
