eth0: failed to linearize skb with tiny unaligned fragment

Postby zkrx » Wed Dec 16, 2020 7:47 am

Hello,

My DS211j runs a Marvell Feroceon with 128MB of RAM. It seems that under network load (NFS), my logs (dmesg, journalctl) get heavily flooded by this message:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
mv643xx_eth_port mv643xx_eth_port.0 eth0: failed to linearize skb with tiny unaligned fragment
mv643xx_eth_port mv643xx_eth_port.0 eth0: failed to linearize skb with tiny unaligned fragment
mv643xx_eth_port mv643xx_eth_port.0 eth0: failed to linearize skb with tiny unaligned fragment
mv643xx_eth_port mv643xx_eth_port.0 eth0: failed to linearize skb with tiny unaligned fragment
[...]
')

I could find this thread [1] that implies that there's a problem with TSO. Is this something that alarm can patch or should we rather take this upstream? As it makes my logs very difficult to use, I'd like to find a solution to silence this.

Note: I didn't have these messages on my custom (5.0 I think?) kernel (running Buildroot, not alarm).

Thanks
