[Solved] Can't ssh into Dockstar after installation

Postby qq220 » Tue Sep 17, 2013 8:53 pm

I accidentally put the usb stick with my previous installation of Arch ARM through the wash so I bought a 16gb stick with the intent of putting ARM on it.

I ran through the steps and everything seemed to be working until I rebooted, now nothing comes up.

If I boot without the usb stick it flashes yellow, if I sick in the flash drive it becomes solid green, but I can't see it on any IP scanner, and I've tried going through every IP from 0 to 50, still nothing.

Any suggestions?

Okay I haven't been able to get it running. I've tried resetting every bit of networking equipment I own to no success.

I really don't have the knowledge or skills to connect via a serial cable.

I have three ideas, but want your opinions on them before I try at risk of permanently destorying it.

1) Formatting the USB stick and placing a Revert folder on it as described here http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5 ... g-series-4 I doubt this works so I'm hesitant to format my USB to try.

2) Opening the USB in ubuntu and editing some files in there (I wouldn't know what to edit).

3) Pressing the little reset pin on the side of the device (I'm scared this would really mess it up).

Any thoughts on those three ideas, or maybe some better ones would be appreciated.

EDIT: Looking into it a bit more, I think uboot is undamaged, but the issue lies in the actual installation on the USB. Speaking of which I am able to mount it http://i.imgur.com/sJyGeuQ.png

see what is configured for dhcp (/etc/systemd/system/*)

Consider configuring netctl with a static ip profile, if netctl is in use.

Okay I have 2 folders where you specified, "multi-user.target.wants", and getty.target.wants.

Inside "multi-user.target.wants" there is a file "netctl-ifplugd@eth0.service" (http://pastebin.com/q6uLNgE7) which references the plugin ifplugd. This is that config file http://pastebin.com/4rdK4wbd.

I don't know what to do with those, but I saw you mentioned netctl so I took a look at a config for that and here is the pastebin of that. http://pastebin.com/GrPkJNqw

I'm going to try putting in a working IP in for ip=DHCP on that file, I'll get back to you when I do.

Thanks for the help

EDIT: Nope, I tried 192.168.0.30, and a few more unused IP's and still nothing.

Edit2: I realized I actually had the file configured incorrectly but I fixed it and it's still not working. eth0 file: http://pastebin.com/kDnYyM3i I feel it's also worth noting the ethernet port works, I'm posting this message from it.

Okay I couldn;t get that to work either.

Is it possible http://os.archlinuxarm.org/os/armv5te/A ... tfs.tar.gz would work, I've been trying this package http://os.archlinuxarm.org/os/ArchLinux ... est.tar.gz

Unreal I just got it.

I tried viewtopic.php?f=18&t=3312&p=19207#p19207 for the third time, and for some reason it worked this time.

This is why I love linux so much community support around everything, thanks for the help guys.
