Can't login to Arch through usb to serial adapter

Hey Guys,
I followed https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=177469 and got the usb to serial connection to prompt me for username and password. Its a headless system (pogo pink). When I put in user:root and my password which works over SSH, it says Login incorrect. Can't find any other posts about this.

I was just trying a bunch of stuff from various posts to get to this point, i would be more than willing to help with a sticky/wiki but unfortunately don't understand most of the steps I took.

Right, i get that it is ttyUSB0 on the PC/laptop, whatever.

Is it ttyS0 on the device itself, or are you trying to login to the device with a USB side of a USB serial attached to an ARM device, and starting serial-getty@ttyUSB0 ?

Are you trying to login as root? If so, you need to add ttyUSB0 to securetty.
