GoFlex Home is rather unwell

Postby BrianM » Wed Jun 24, 2015 11:00 am

Hi,
My Archlinux ARM install on GoFlex Home stopped working some while ago and I'm now girding my loins to fix it, having taken off its drive contents as a precaution.
I was intendning getting it back to "shipping" condition, but the process described at the Seagate we page didn't work. (The USB drive was activated, but the process didn't complete.)
I attempted to Netconsole listen in to the U-Boot, but although I can ping the 10.10.10.6 NIC, I see nothing on the 10.10.10.4/5 addresses.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'brian@brian-Virtual-Machine:~$ nc -luk 10.10.10.4 6666
^C
brian@brian-Virtual-Machine:~$ sudo nc -luk 10.10.10.5 6666

Any ideas please?
Thanks
Brian

VM are tricky. You need to set virtual adapter in promiscuous mode. If it is still not working, best way is to boot a Live CD and go from there.

OK, may just boot up a real machine. I've got a 14.04 build disk - will report back, thanks.

OK, have booted up a real Linux box, and get the following when monitoring the Boot:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ nc -lu 10.10.10.4 6666
[ 96.929315] systemd[1]: Timed out waiting for device dev-sdb1.device.
[ 96.959300] systemd[1]: Dependency failed for /MediaStore.
[ 96.989295] systemd[1]: Dependency failed for Local File Systems.
')
Don't really understand...

And from the U-boot monitor

Well that there might be a bit of an issue.

You will likely need to get an update kernel onto that boot disk.

http://mirror.archlinuxarm.org/arm/core ... pkg.tar.xz

Extract uImage to the first partition. Then when it boots up reinstall the whole thing to get the modules installed.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pacman -Sy linux-kirkwood')

Also how old is that uBoot installation? If you have old uBit 0.6 it will NOT boot kernels past 3.2.0
