Official uBoot does not boot into the default Pogoplug OS...

Postby penguinsam » Mon Aug 31, 2015 3:47 am

Followed the official instruction here and install ALARM into my Seagate Dockstar. But now I found when plugging off all USB flash drive / HDD, it does not boot into the default Pogoplug OS.

Is there anything I go wrong? Or just the offical uBoot does not support this feature?

It doesn't support booting into pogoplug os.

You can install newest u-boot: viewtopic.php?f=53&t=8857
and rescue system : viewtopic.php?f=30&t=8383

Can I install the new uBoot right inside the ALARM? Will it crash anything?

You have to install it inside the alarm. It will prompt you to flash uboot after installation. It won't crash anything.

Thanks and I got your info. To summerize, are my steps below correct:

In ALARM
1. pacman -Sy uboot-dockstar
2. ubiformat /dev/mtd1
3. ubiattach -p /dev/mtd1
4. ubimkvol /dev/ubi0 -m -N rootfs
5. cd ~; wget http://os.archlinuxarm.org/os/armv5te/r ... .img.ubifs
6. ubiupdatevol /dev/ubi0_0 rescue1.4.img.ubifs

The remove all external storage devices and it will boot into Pogoplug OS? :D

Looks alright, but doublecheck with the how-to i linked to for exact commands. Also, you need to reboot after installing uboot for updated mtd partitioning

It may be 5 years old, but gets the job done. :)
