What is preferred gcc for ArchLinuxARM on Raspberry Pi?

Postby RED2 » Sun Oct 27, 2013 5:05 pm

Hello.

What and where is preferred gcc C compiler for ArchLinuxARM on Raspberry Pi ?

Attempting to compile and install lighttpd 1.4.33 webserver on Raspberry Pi.

Or shall I consider other better suited light footprint webserver for this device ?

Your advice and suggestions is greatly appreciated much :)

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply and suggestion.

I issued 'pacman -S gcc' on command line, it failed because unable to locate 'libmpc-1.0.1-1-armv6h.pkg.tar.xz' from mirror.archlinuxarm.org : The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found

Hmm ... is there another mirror for this package ?

Here is the result.
# pacman -S gcc

Awesome.
first: pacman -Sy did the trick.
then: pacman -S gcc
Thank you so much.

Now it appears I do not have $(MAKE) module for this Raspberry Pi upon ./configure checking various settings such as checking for gawk, checking for gcc, checking if C compiler works, checking whether make sets $(MAKE) is available, and so forth, etc ... for installing lighttpd-1.4.33

Can you or anyone shed some light on this $(MAKE) module ?

Again, Thank you.

Oh ... I 'see' now.
base-devel is a suite of tools.

Thank you, much appreciated indeed.
