Problem with slow smb speed

Postby lynnard » Sat Dec 14, 2013 2:59 pm

I'm using my raspberry pi as a smb server and the speed is unbearable on my client end (~300-400KB/s where the client is on the same network as the server).

Here's my smb.conf

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
[global]
security = user
encrypt passwords = yes
smb passwd file = /etc/samba/smbpasswd
load printers = no

[media]
comment = all the media data
path = /home/lingnan/data
writable = yes
create mask = 0660
force create mode = 0660
locking = yes
')

raspi has one usb shared between multiple devices so if you are sharing a usb device over samba then usb device and nic will share that (maximum theoretical) 30 mB/s. What you get though is still kinda low. Search for "samba 4" thread in armv5 forums, the thread is old but it's got a good example config with tcp options that should improve the situation
