omxplayer and subtitles

i've managed to install everything i need, the thing is with latest omxplayer for armv6 raspberry pi, i cant see the subtitles with .avi and .srt files

tried using -t and tried toggling with 's' , didnt work.. please let me know if you have any ideas.

seems like someone is having a problem to compile.

edit: i found that the package is already compiled, iḿ gonna test and report back here.

Edit2: i had latest omxplayer, the subtitles actually give me a new error after installing all dependencias for omxplayer-git, error says unable to open font

I had the same issue and solved it by installing the package named ttf-freefont.
