Snort unable to open file rules

Postby drinkeru » Sat Mar 14, 2015 1:14 pm

Hi. I'm trying to run the latest snort in NIDS mode however when i include the -c option the i always get "there is no such rule file" even though the variables in the snort.conf file are pointing to the right place. Snort -vde seems to work though.

I would really use some help as this is a University project and I am running out of time.
These are links to the rules directory contents http://ix.io/gTj ; the snort.conf file http://ix.io/gTk ( the variable rule are commented out in this example however i tried both ways and i get similar errors).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Someone had this exact issue @ IRC on Friday. However, he seemed to solve it on his own after some prodding.
