VLC can't play video

Postby pipipi » Sat May 16, 2015 7:23 pm

After visiting the Arch Linux wiki to get VLC working on a Raspberry Pi. I've installed VLC via the package available through the alarm repos. I get the following output:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[010750d0] core libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface.

Most other video settings give similar errors. If I disable video I can get audio playback. Switching to XVideo, I'll get it playing but without sound or audio. xvidcore is installed, and I get the following output:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[010750d0] core libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface.
[b1215a50] freetype spu text error: failed to load font file Helvetica
[b120ef70] core video output error: video output creation failed
[affcab58] core decoder error: failed to create video output')

I've only tried MP4 videos so far, so I'm not sure what it might output with other formats. I'm really only looking to play MP4 for the time being. Does anyone else have VLC working on RPi? What do I need to get it going?
