how can i enable p54? what do i have to do? which linux commands? i have pasted an exerpt from http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/p54

thx

Enabling p54

To enable p54, you must first enable mac80211:

Networking Support --->
Wireless --->
<M> cfg80211 - wireless configuration API
<M> Generic IEEE 802.11 Networking Stack (mac80211)

You can then enable p54 in the kernel configuration under

Device Drivers --->
[*] Network device support --->
Wireless LAN --->
[*] Wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11)
<M> Softmac Prism54 support
<M> Prism54 USB support
<M> Prism54 PCI support
<M> Prism54 SPI (stlc45xx) support

OXNAS and drivers, WarheadsSE will be sure to sort this out soon.
P54 can be also used as an access point

Most of those modules look like that in the pack I reference in the other thread: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=1234

I wasn't sure what the forum policy was regarding resurrecting old threads versus making a new one, so I hope I am not breaking the policy.

In any case, I was curious if anyone has gotten a Netgear WG111v2 USB adapter working (and is still working). I downloaded the firmware and put it in the correctly location. When I insert the adapter, the necessary modules are loaded, I see messages (in /var/log/messages.log) that the kernel sees the device and creates a wlan0 interface. Everything appears to work fine until I try to scan for available wireless networks. Once I scan for wireless networks, I see a kernel WARNING (followed by a call trace), and the device does not detect any networks. I also tried the adapter on a PC install of Arch Linux and experienced the same issue. If any else has seen this and can provide some info on how to fix it, I would appreciate it. If not, no big deal, I will likely just get a new adapter (that is not several years old). Thanks.

I bought one of these off eBay, because it's p54 driver. It turned out to be a v1
But I have another p54 based stick, it works fine, what device are you plugging into?

I have an eee 701 laptop, that had wireless that appeared to not work or scan, but just stuffing ssid and password into config and it worked

I tried it in a GoFlex Home device. Are you still using wicd to configure it? That is what I was trying to get it set up with.
