Plugging in devices such as LAN adapters, Wi-Fi cards, printers, etc. to Arch Linux ARM.

Pogoplug Pro USB Drives

I wonder why my usb drives are only detected if they are attached at boot time. Some times I can plug usb drive and it is recognized but the only sure way to have any type of usb harddrive or flash drive is to attach it at boot time.

If they are pluged in when pogoplug pro is booting then usb and usb hd are detected. Most of the time when I just plug in usb flash or hard drive then is not detected.

udev & the mounting rules should be taking care of this for you. If no trace of udev is running, you'll have issues. As such, the instructions all over this board read to restart udev, not just kill it.
