VDR on Pogoplug V04/Pro

Postby holsen » Fri Jul 08, 2011 4:15 pm

Hi there!

I need some advice from you guys. I currently own a Pogoplug V2 pink running ARCH LEENUCKS ARM!1ONE/NSLU2. This is because I like the Pogoplug service and wanted to keep it. There are quite many apps installed on it, Samba, duplicity, nzbget, transmission, etc. The next thing I want to build is a tv recorder using VDR. The idea was to buy a second Pogoplug Pink, install Debian on it and use it with a Hauppauge Nova USB DVB-T stick. Bought a Pogoplug on eBay, got it today and figured out it was a newer Pogo V04(similar to Pogoplug Pro). So now I have four options:

1. Install NSLU2 on the new V04 and let the Pogoplug service run on that device. Use the first V02 Pogoplug, install Debian on it and re install all the other services on it.

2. Install Arch Linux ARM/ArchLinux on the new V04 and try to get the Haupauge stick working on the pro. It should work on devices with a kernel >2.6.19 I just wonder whether the DVB drivers have been compiled into the kernel.
This looks quite complicated and I am no expert.

3. Try to get the Hauppauge DVB-T stick working on the Pogoplug V02 running ARCH LEENUCKS ARM!1ONE and compile VDR from source.

4. Sell the Pogoplug V04 and get a V02 instead

What do you think?

We don't support or acknowledge options 1 and 3 for the blatantly obvious reasons. 2 is an option, 3 is a good idea.

Option 2 is minorly dubious, as I don't think I have DVB enabled in the kernel atm.

Could be done, as long as you are comfortable with compiling a kernel and flashing it to the right place in nand.

We're working on getting kexec working nicely... the kernel/device doesn't like it atm...

If you are going to dig this up, please confirm which device you have.

I have a V2 (PPV2), although it seems like a V3...

viewtopic.php?f=29&t=2932&p=17079&hilit=UNSUPPORTED#p17079

as per the tuner I have an AverMedia Volar Black HD, that is fully supported in the kernel since 2.6

http://www.avermedia.com/Product/Produc ... spx?Id=460

and lsusb lists it properly:

ID 07ca:850a AVerMedia Technologies, Inc. AverTV Volar Black HD (A850)

Alright, if you are still confused
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
cat /proc/cpuinfo
')

If it mentions oxnas, it is a V3. If it mentions Feroceon, its a kirkwood.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('gaogao', 'V')2, as expected:

Where do you see that?
