Fatal memory leak in rtlwifi driver?

Postby krs013 » Mon Jan 04, 2016 11:30 pm

I'm using the ubiquitous Edimax EW-7811Un USB-wifi adapter with a BeagleBone Black, and I just noticed that the memory usage grows endlessly as long as the device is active. I can't say much for sure, and I might need some help to isolate the problem, but for now I do know that I can watch the memory usage in free go up steadily at about 60 KB/s until it runs out of memory and crashes. Looking at ps aux doesn't point to any process that has the memory. I don't know if this is just a case of Arch optimizing RAM usage, but when I disable the wifi adapter the memory grabbing stops. I don't know how long this has been going on, but I just updated everything.

I have exactly the same issue with an Olimex imx233 board and a rtl8188 USB-wifi module since months. I upgraded archlinux many time but nothing.
Unfortunately I couldn't find the solution yet! Hope somebody can answer!
