Solved Samsung Arm Chromebook arch default login not working

Postby chiefjazzdiewltr » Thu Jan 28, 2016 1:33 am

I recently booted into arch linux on my chromebook and it asked for a login and I looked at the installation guide for arch and it was "root" but it says Login Incorrect when I try "root". Is it a different login or is it a problem with the installation? The model number is XE303C12 if that helps.

root/root @ the console should work.

Try alarm/alarm.

alarm/alarm said login incorrect as well.

edit: ill format the usb and try again to see if it was a problem with the install

update: I formatted the usb re-installed arch onto the usb and I got to the end where it says unmount root and run the "sync" command but when I ran "umount root" it rebooted instantly after it finished running the command. Is this cause I was in localhost or do I have to type umount /root. Anyway ignoring that error I booted into the usb and it put me into the sh shell and prior to which gave a error with something to do with the ext4 format which didn't happen last time but I followed the same instructions. (before all this, tar gave me this error tar: ignoring unknown extended header keyword)

I fixed the issue, it was cause mount and umount were mounting and umounting the root of the laptop which caused some type of crash but I replaced the mount /dev/sdxY root with mount /dev/sdxY /root and it fixed the issue and I can login with root/root.
Thanks for your help WarheadsSE
