I just tried to use ftrace to see if the trim functions are being invoked, but the ftrace function tracing (amongst others) isn't enabled in the kernel.
@moonman are you aware of why not ?. I (and maybe others) could use this. Is this something that is in the standard Arch kernel config, or specific to ArchARM ?.

Maybe I found out why ftrace isn't enabled.
For the hell of it I built a current kernel with just ftrace and uprobes added. Compiled and installed ok (a previous try with some extra options wouldn't even compile).
As soon as function is echoed to current_tracer I take a hard oops on all 4 CPUs (Pi3). I see one other report of similar a year ago, with no response. But I find older traces from Pi posted online.
No idea of what the problem is.
