Yes, same thing here. I did a:
pacman -S glib2

It updated glib2-2.70.0-1 to glib2-2.70.0-2 but the problem still exists.

I was hoping that updating glib2 would install the proper version of libffi. It did not.

Looking on my x86 machine, it looks like the glib2-2.70.0-2 pkgrel should have recompiled glib2 for the soname bump, but for some reason the aarch64 version didn't.

Same issue. I was able to add libffi to my IgnorePkg list so I could at least run pacman until the issue is resolved.

Re: RaspberryPi - can't find libffi.so=7-32

Postby 4rt » Thu Oct 21, 2021 12:04 am

Thanks for that. Unfortuantely I have another issue now, and was hoping you may be able to help ...
Whenever I try to upgrade with `pacman -Syu` i get the following error:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'resolving dependencies...
warning: cannot resolve "libffi.so=7-32", a dependency of "glib2"')
I tried searching the packages and I see that there is a libffi however it provides : libffi.so=8-32 rather than libffi.so=7-32, is there anyway I can force glib2 to accept the newer package? It appears I have the latest installed as the output of `pacman -Q libffi` is libffi 3.4.2-4 which is the newest version and when I try makepkg on the PKGBUILD I get : "==> ERROR: libffi is not available for the 'armv7h' architecture."

Any help is greatly appreciated.

libffi.so.7 missing

Postby winksaville » Thu Oct 21, 2021 3:56 am

I installed ArchLinuxARM-rpi-2-latest.tar.gz and all was well. I then tried to upgrade with `pacman -Syu` and got many messages that `libffi.so.7` was missing. I looked in `/usr/lib/libffi*` and I see that `libffi.so.8.1.0` is installed and not `libffi.so.7`. But apparently some of the dependencies need `libffi.so.7`. As a guess I tried to create a symlink from `libffi.so.7` to `libffi.so.8.1.0` but it wouldn't reboot and complained that libffi.so.7 couldn't be found.

I have a older Raspberry Pi 2 Model B v1.1 from 2014 with 1GB of RAM.

What have I done wrong?

The problem is still present. It seems the mirrors still haven't received the patched package. Is this ok and we just have to wait some more?

software upgrade refusedupgrade

Postby claus » Thu Oct 21, 2021 7:29 am

Hi, a few days ago I installed archlinux on my Raspberry pi 4. Yesterday the software upgrade was refused because there is probably an incompatibility between the new libffi 3.4 to be installed and the glib or Thunderbird packages. So I first excluded libffi from the upgrade - the upgrade then went through. In the futureI I would like to include libffi in the upgrade again. So do I always have to check the integrity first? I thought that everything that is "offered" in the repro is also compatible. As a newbie to arch linux I probably have a communication problem ??? I would be grateful for a tip or a lift course.
