Kodi-imx on Cubox-i: freezing with vertical blank sync

When I upgraded to the latest kodi-imx to 16.0-1 with everything else up to date, kodi becomes a slide show when playing about half of my video collection.
This issue is rectified by reverting to the previous kodi-imx: 15.2-2, or by disabling "Vertical Blank Sync". The latter fix is unworkable, as it causes painful tearing. I have tried wiping my kodi directory to eliminate kodi-15 to kodi-16 upgrade issues.

Errors in kodi.log:

Perhaps we should consider moving to SolidRun's fslc kernel, since the one we currently use is no longer supported by them.

Nevermind, I am a complete idiot. The problem is with the new kodi-imx, and not the kernel. I just had my files mixed up.

Kodi-imx-16.0-1 exhibits the issue.
Kodi-imx-15.2-2 works like a charm.

I have never encountered this befre. Could you provide the video file that has known to cause this?

In my case I use YATSE android remote control to stream youtube videos and all sorts of UI quirks happen, as the shots i shared.

Well, I installed YouTube and after watching a bunch of random videos I can not reproduce this problem

On the weekend i'll try again and this time activate the debug log.
