Last kernel update destroyed loading the kernel on clearfog

Postby slackit » Thu Oct 13, 2016 8:43 am

First of all: yes, i have no backup of the sd as i am just starting with all that... but i will create one now.
I just made an update pacman -Syu for the clearfog pro and now it stops starting.
I logged in via USB and i can see:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '5')863280 bytes read in 298 ms (18.8 MiB/s)
19051 bytes read in 10 ms (1.8 MiB/s)
** File not found /boot/initramfs-linux.img **
## Flattened Device Tree blob at 02040000
Booting using the fdt blob at 0x02040000
Loading Device Tree to 00ff8000, end 00fffa6a ... OK

Skipping Device Tree update ('fdt_skip_update' = yes)

Limit DDR size at 3GB due to power of 2 requirement of Address decoding

Starting kernel ...

The update contained a 4.4.24 or such kernel.

Thats it. Nothing happens.
This is very very bad. Something like that should not happen.

just flashed the sd again, logged in as alarm -> su -> root, pacman -Syu
kernel 4.4.24-1 makes it impossible to boot the device

in the documentation where to file a bug report, it points to github with bug reports disabled :|
only pull requests, and as i am no developer, i can not fix that - maybe the docu should be updated too

i have a intel wireless 6870 and a complex xv 900, both do not work. would this also be interesting for you to get infos for e.g. creating bug reports or such? i would love to have wlan on the clearfog pro but seems like none of the cards work with the 4.4.x kernel for arm, even tho on x86 they work.

It should work now. As far as WiFi adapters go, do they work with other distributions?

I guess I am going to have to do some more testing. Yeah it doesn't look right
