rpi 3 b, is it possible to install kernel 4.9 ?

Postby acconciox » Sun Feb 19, 2017 10:09 am

Hi, is it possible to run rpi 3 b with linux kernel 4.9?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'core/linux-armv7 4.9.11-1
The Linux Kernel and modules - ARMv7 multi-platform')

i ask because i read this:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'R')aspberry Pi 3 support landed in kernel 4.8, and the corresponding defconfig changes in 4.9.

Currently Linux only supports 64-bit mode on the Pi 3, though many have had luck by using the 32-bit devicetree file.

from https://github.com/anholt/linux/wiki/Raspberry-Pi-3

im sorry, if question is too dumb. Please point me in the good direction.

thanks :D

Dunno about the kernel package you mentioned, but did you see:$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv8/broadcom/raspberry-pi-3', '
')AArch64 Installation
This provides an installation using the mainline kernel and U-Boot. There is no support for the vendor-provided libraries, extensions, or related software. Some of the hardware on the board may not work, or it may perform poorly.

Hi, I've created this simple bash script, which works fine to compile the 4.10.0 32 bit kernel (not AArch64). Hope it's useful.

Looks like the officially supported main kernel for rbp is now the 4.9.x series. I would think that the 4.10.x series will follow-up along shortly.
