Cubietruck doesn't detect NIC when booted from sata

Postby blippy » Sat Oct 07, 2017 2:07 pm

I have installed Arch Linux to a micro SD card and the sata drive according to the instructions at:
https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv ... cubietruck

When I boot to the SD card, networking works fine. When I boot to the sata drive, everything seems fine, except that networking doesn't work. It's odd, because what's on the sata drive should be very similar to what's on the SD card.

I'm at a loss as to know how to progress this matter. Any suggestions?

OK, I think the problem is not so much that the NIC is undetected, but that:
1. you can't boot from sata
2. kernel 4.x doesn't recognise nand

So I either have to use the SD card or NAND as a boot device.

I've had it working before with linaro (?), but something has gone wrong, and I can't figure out what the problem is. I'm not sure I've even got anything on the nand drives.

I have LiveSuite and PhoenixSuit on Windows, but they're all a bit flakey, fussy, and they seem to require particular types of images.

Well, at least I kinda know what the issues are now. Sorta.
