[solved] cups and cups related old packages

Postby tomasm » Thu Aug 23, 2018 9:25 pm

Hello.

Im calling out for help since im having issues with printing on mi hp laserjet 1018 printer.

The printer worked ok until some point since about 2 monthes (last time i printed??). and i cannot find the reason.

The printer is left hanging on 'sending data to printer' whenever i print a document.

the only error found is
Code: Select all
D [23/Aug/2018:15:49:14 -0300] [Job 313] Syntax Warning: Unknown font type: \'???\'

so im trying to find the culprit. but i have removed my pacman cache and lost all old packages.

is there a source for old packages for armv7h?

the packages i need are
cups (version 2.2.7-2)
cups-filters (1.20.3-2 and 1.20.4-1)
psutils 1.17-5

has anyone have these yet in their cache?

Thanks!!

Cups has a log in /var/log/cups/, can we see it ?
Also you might increase the verbosity in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf ;)

Hello,

Yes you can. but its 4mb. pastebin does not like that. find the relevant parts there (less than 512K)

maybe you can spot something different than what i have shown in my Original post.

Have you tried to reconfigure the printer ?
Perhaps it takes to delete the previous settings and try to discover the printer again at http://localhost:631.
The log seems to say about broken pipe

There are further answer if looking for "HTTP_STATE_WAITING Closing for error 32"

Consider that I'm not an expert, I just try to help you.
I read the log and it seems that you are sending the printing job through the network. At a certain point the log states that there no default printer. Have you check whether if correctly assigned, from within the web-ui ?

Hello.

yes it is correctly assigned. the printer gets the job. and sometimes filter failed message. or sometimes it 'completes the job'.

same config used to work until last july. I will try the printer on a windows machine through the usb cable, maybe its broken.

You may compare in /var/log/pacman.log what has been changed recently which refers to printing stuffs.
There might be some pacnew in /etc which may contain important modifications.
