Kodi without open source graphics stack

Postby joao » Mon Apr 05, 2021 3:55 pm

I’m trying to run kodi on a raspberry pi 3B+ running arch arm armv7h without the changes to config.txt required to enable the open source graphics driver. (Ie. dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d)
This because I use parsec and steamlink which are incompatible with the open source graphics drivers.

Kodi on Raspbian runs perfectly without switching to the open source graphics drivers.
On my install of arch arm it runs painfully slow using Mesa software/LLVM graphics.
Is possible on arch Linux arm for kodi to run on the original raspberry pi graphics firmware from Broadcom? (As it does in on Raspbian)

Any help or tips much appreciated!

No, Matrix (v19.x) needs kms. You can run it under X11 but you will not have any HW decoding. FYI - RPiOS does not ship Matrix, or even a up-to-date Leia. I believe they are shipping 18.7 whereas the last release in that series is 18.9.
