Getting cec working on rpi 4

Postby andersl » Fri Jul 09, 2021 7:14 am

Hi there,
I recently bought a rpi 4 (8G) to run with my old Panasonic TV. I have installed plasma desktop and kodi, and it would be nice to have cec functioning, for turning on/of the tv when the system is shut down and for using the remote to control kodi and also the desktop for some things.

However, I can not get it to show any sign of life, except some messages from cec-client when run as root.

Kodi first says it tries to initialize/connect with the pulse 8 device, but then complaints that it did not succeed and to tjeck my settings. I tried various things without succes. The HDMI port is set to 1, same as the cable is connected to on my TV. My cable is from Raspberry Pi, I assume that should be good enough?

Any help appreciated.

Had similar issue. The problem was that cec seem to only work on port 0 HDMI on the raspberry pi 4... I just switched the port to the one closer to power source and got it working instantly...

Yeah, always use port0 (closest to power).
