Beaglebone black emmc

Postby CarlS » Wed Apr 02, 2014 1:30 am

Hi,

I followed the tutorial on the installation page of the beaglebone black
arch works properly on the sdcard i created,
but when i redo steps 4 to 7 to get it on the emmc, when i poweroff to boot from the emmc, nothing happens
if i put the sd card back in i can boot from the card but the nothing happens when from the emmc.

emmc is not dead because i reinstalled ubuntu on it to verify and it's working correctly

maybe someone can shed some light, if i need to put more details please ask and i will do my best to supply them
(still new with linux) but learning alot with dev boards

*edit: only thing i saw weird / diff from sdcard while installing on emmc is when making the vfat 16 filesystem, it complained partion was 12bytes and would not be seen as proper fat 16 ( or something close to that)

Thanks for your time

I experienced what you have described. In spite of the instructions stating that formatting the mmc was unnecessary, I did so anyway. After I did that and put the appropriate images on the boot and root partition, the board booted successfully from mmc.
