Cubieboard 2 installation instructions not working

Postby neoncortex » Tue Apr 29, 2014 11:31 am

Hi,

the installation instructions on http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7 ... bieboard-2 don't seem to work.
After the cubieboard 2 is powered up only the blue LED blinks.

I tried an older instruction some time ago and in the old instructions there where 2 files to dd on sdcard.

That worked!

The actual installation instructions only require to dd one file to sdcard. That doesn't seem to work

Any ideas?

Yes, it only worked with earlier images.Check out this page in this forum. There is a new version of uboot which bricks the boot process because of missing uEnv.txt. You can edit this file on the sd manually but I couldn't get it to work with a usual one. Looks like noone here uses cb2. Good luck
P.S if it actually worked like it did before it would still be badly optimized

Don't get me wrong here.
I'm very happy for all the few open source developers at sunxi or alarm but it's much work I think.
If I had more time I would also use it for linux stuff and donating is no option for me as I am a pupil.

Maybe we can solve the problem if we use the standart sunxi boot/root partitioning scheme for the sd card and after that symlink it. We may check this out.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('kmihelich', 'T')he instructions work just fine.

Did you try this on your own with the new build? They usually don't.

No, I just wrote the instructions based on guessing what should work.

Of course it's been tested.

If the instructions at http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7 ... bieboard-2 are working than I'm doing something wrong.

I follow the instruction via copy pasta. The only thing i change is that my SDCARD is at /dev/mmcblk0 and not at /dev/sdX. And the first partition is /dev/mmcblk0p1 and not /dev/sdX1.

Did i miss something?

I had a similar problem. The down load I first used worked fine out of the box giving me a console
on the HDMI monitor. The most recent version still runs up (Though it does not light the status led)
blue led flashes and I can ssh to the board. considering this is a system for the cubieboard 2 it seems
this is now broken compared to what it was.
