"unable to initialize libusb: -99" error in udoo quad

Postby tuxx » Wed Jun 11, 2014 10:21 am

Hi all,

I have started experimenting with linux-armv7 on my udoo quad.

I used latest image of 01/06, updated to latest packages and installed linux-armv7 along with uboot-udoo-quad.

The system boots but usb devices are not recognized. When i give lsusb, the output is:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'u')nable to initialize libusb: -99

I know that the generic armv7 kernel is not completely functional on udoo quad but I was just wondering if at least I could make usb ports work.

Any idea would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Michael

USB works with 3.15 mainline, if you update the DTS files for Udoo Quad.

I did a clean installation and usb works fine. I assume there was an update in kernel or something like that.

linux-armv7 from Archlinuxarm repositories.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'L')inux alarm 3.15.0-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Jun 15 10:24:18 MDT 2014 armv7l GNU/Linux

Usb support is ok:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '[')root@alarm ~]# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 148f:5370 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT5370 Wireless Adapter
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 20b1:2013 XMOS Ltd
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:2514 Standard Microsystems Corp. USB 2.0 Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Last but not least, boot time is superb:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 's')ystemd-analyze time
Startup finished in 3.934s (kernel) + 3.945s (userspace) = 7.880s

Ah ok, this kernel is modified and not an unmodified kernel.org mainline one.

The PKGBUILD (https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUIL ... 7/PKGBUILD) uses
"http://rcn-ee.net/deb/sid-armhf/v${pkgver}-${rcnrel}/patch-${pkgver%.0}-${rcnrel}.diff.gz"

I looked at:
http://rcn-ee.net/deb/sid-armhf/v3.15.0 ... x2.diff.gz

There is the patch for the UDOO dts file included.

I thought with mainline not an ArchLinuxARM one, but the official one.
If you mean an unmodified ArchLinuxARM one, ok...

;)
