UDOO-Quad: no monitors after kernel update/switch

Postby BloodyWulf » Fri Jun 13, 2014 5:51 pm

Hello,

the last 2 days i tryed out Arch Linux on the UDOO-Quad and it works realy fine, i like it. It's true that the arch version from the instalation-guide (http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/freescale/udoo) need realy long to boot (around 90 seconds) so i do a u-boot and kernel update, like it is described at the installation-guide. Now it boot realy fast (around 12 seconds), but now, there is no screen output more! Neither the HDMI-Screen nor the 7" LVDS-Screen: booth are deep black. :cry: :cry: :cry:
The udoo is up, i know that about i'm connected via serial console (cn6) and can work, but the screens won't work. With the old slow version both screens work fine. to set up the screens i followed the way, that is described by the udoo-people: (http://www.udoo.org/ProjectsAndTutorial ... lioID=1394)

Have any one the same problem or any solution?

By kernel update, what do you mean?

I did this:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')Install the U-Boot package

In order to receive updates to the U-Boot bootloader, after logging into the system type:
- pacman -Sy uboot-udoo-quad
When prompted, press y and hit enter to flash the bootloader to the micro-SD card.

Mainline Kernels

Mainline kernel support (3.14+) is available now for i.MX6; however, it is not the default in the installation image due to bugs still being worked out.
You must be running the latest U-Boot we have in the files above, or by running pacman -Syu in your installation to update the U-Boot package installed in the previous section. U-Boot should be at least version 2013.10, visible via the serial console at boot.
Once running on the latest U-Boot, boot into Arch Linux ARM.
Install the new kernel, which will remove the linux-udoo package:
- pacman -Syu linux-armv7
Reboot the system:
- reboot

Maybe "kernel switch" is the better description !? :?

You could use mainline v3.15 with an updated DT.

For a console framebuffer and HDMI:
===
To get HDMI working you need a recent device tree.
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kern ... /linux.git
dbfcaed ARM: dts: imx6q-udoo: Add HDMI support
===

For X you could use fbturbo-git as it is available in archlinux arm tree.
But without hardware accelerated graphic.

I am running LXDE on my Udoo.
