ODROID-U2 Boot from USB HDD

Postby dweidenfeld » Tue Sep 30, 2014 6:56 am

Hi,

since I broke 2 sd cards with my odroid u2 because of heavy IO (they became unwriteable) i decided to use the sd card as read-only medium and want to put all the OS data on an external HDD.
I have read the topic viewtopic.php?f=47&t=6999 already but it does not seem to work for me because the boot process does not take any notice of the boot.scr.
Then I noticed that there is now the "uEnv.txt", that contains the parameter "mmcroot".
So I switched the line
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '# mmcroot=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rw rootwait')
to
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'mmcroot=/dev/disk/by-uuid/a3e9a524-0bff-4bfd-a400-c8f2d3abb0a1 rw rootwait')
but it does not work for me.

Unfortunately I do not have the exact error message present now, but I can append it later.

Are there any requirements the HDD has to fulfill to work as boot medium?
Does someone has an idea what I was doing wrong?

Thanks for help

Do an blkid and check if your HDD has an UUID of a3e9a524-0bff-4bfd-a400-c8f2d3abb0a1 ?
Did you run sd_fusing.sh ?

yes of course, i checked the uuid with blkid.
It has been for a while from now, but i think i missed running ./sd_fusing.sh ... i will try it in the next days/weeks. If it works i will comment this thread ;)

Never the less, thank you for your thoughts about my problem :)
