Cannot shutdown or restart RPi2 from Kodi [FIXED]

When I go to the kodi power button icon, I only have the option to "exit" but I think I should be able to restart and shutdown the RPi2 from here. What am I missing? I have the upower package installed.

Hmm... you shouldn't need the upower package as that just allows for displaying the battery level (non-existant on RPi hardware). So you hit that button and you ONLY see an option to exit? If that is true, there might be something wrong with the udev rule the devs are shipping with the package. Can anyone with a RPi2 confirm the behavior maggie reported (I only have a RPi classic and I can restart or shutdown from that menu).

I don't use it, but it depends on who it is run as, and if they have machine rights to reboot.

Actually, with one of the most recent updates, I have lost the ability to restart or to shutdown my RPi from Kodi just as maggie has reported. This is not true on Arch x86_64; there the kodi user via the systemd service can. I will open a bug report.

I tried the new service and installed the new deps and it does load kodi but I still can't restart or shutdown

Your changes do now register the kodi user in loginctl so that is a step forward!
