NIC card doesn't work as well in Arch as ChromeOS

Postby commandlinekid » Wed Aug 12, 2015 10:31 pm

I just setup Arch Linux on my Samsung Series 3 Chromebook (the first one, silver).

The NIC card is: sd8797 I believe made by Marvell (SDIO). mwifiex version 1.0 (14.66.11.p151). I think the driver is sd8797_uapsta.bin

It's running great, but I notice I can only connect to personal nat boxes like my Netgear... not Time Warner's wireless network outside in the street.

Now, if I boot up into ChromeOS....it connects just fine! As a matter of fact, that's how I downloaded Arch to begin with.
Sometimes it connects and sometimes it doesn't (meaning I get an IP at times). But it never passes packets.

Question: Could this just be a poorly-written driver?? Because the ChromeOS driver works great.

I've connected using wifi-menu and nmcli and same thing.

Thank you for your help.
