Arch makes the Cubitruck useless

Postby soundcheck » Fri Aug 21, 2015 7:44 am

Can somebody explain why ARCH uses the mainline kernel on the Cubitruck,
even though HW support is not fully established?

Please guys. Step back to sunxi-kernels! At least until you get the device tree properly done and all the modules up'n running.

It's one thing to be bleeding edge. It's another thing to have a working platform.

THX

PS: If there's a workaround to fall back to the sunxi-kernel (uImage, script.bin etc) let me (us) know.

What module are you missing? I'm using the mainline kernel since 3.16 (or so) and i wouldn't call my cubietruck useless

You can track things here: http://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort#Status
Basically everything works except a few things (worth mentioning: NAND and multimedia HW-accelleration)

The problem is that the 3.4 kernel trees no longer properly work with systemd.
