how to install desktop on archlinux in c100p

i cant figure out how to get to the desktop on the linux partition i dont know if its that the desktop is not installed or if i just dont know how to get to it can someone help me
when i say desktop i mean like "sudo startunity" or "sudo startxfce4"

I have only been able to successfully launch an X session by using sddm. X errors off when I try startx but once I enable sddm it lanuches to a desktop just fine.
